During my Sophomore year in college, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a frantic phone call from my sister back home in California. She was crying and hyperventilating on the other line to tell me that our house was about to burn down. Between sobs of hysteria, my sister was finally able to coherently spit out that it wasn't actually our house that was on fire. Rather, our neighbor's home was the one a-burnin'. In my sister's defense, the flames were creeping awfully close to our home and all it would have taken was a slight breeze for them to jump from our neighbor's roof to ours.Using this to pad my opinion, I am sympathetic to catastrophes such as fires and floods, earth quakes and Tsunamis. I repeat, IT WOULD TOTALLY SUCK TO HAVE YOUR HOUSE BURN DOWN! However....
Los Angeles, come on! Don't you guys go up in flames like every year? My cousins almost had to evacuate their home in Monticito due to the raging inferno last summer. It seems like by the end of each August, some part of Southern California is either ablaze or covered in ash.
Without fail, the hills of Los Angeles are once again flaming...figuratively and literally. According to the Associated Press, nearly 12,000 homes are close to smoldering as we speak. What I wanna know is, why did you guys wait until the flames were licking your noses to actually do something about it? At least take a garden hose to the grass or lay a sprinkler on the law. DO SOMETHING!
Perhaps this is just God's way of punishing the wicked. Fire and brimstone, right? And believe you me, Hollywood deserves it! What do you think silicone looks like when it melts?
